Veta 5.2.71 Released

Veta Software Update

This release fixes various issues. Most importantly, an issue where the sublots length was not always displayed correctly and a large increase in project size.

Import

  • Fix: TDS files using the WGS 84 projection could not be imported.

Analysis

  • Fix: Analysis crashes.
  • Fix: Wrong thresholds were drawn on the Differential and Segregation Quality Control charts.

Filters

  • Fix: Filter group manager crash.
  • Fix: Renaming a generated filter group did not automatically update the operation filter names in the coverage analysis or in the filter screen.

Sublots

  • Fix: Value shown for the length did not always match the displayed unit (meters or feet).

Misc

  • Fix: Projects created in some previous versions of Veta 5.x would increase in size when re-saved.
  • Fix: Possible fix for the legend window not closing.
  • Fix: Changing a map legend in the analysis did not update other maps.

First US-Japan Intelligent Compaction Workshop

The first US-Japan Intelligent Compaction Technologies (ICT) workshop will be held in Tokyo, Japan on April 22, 2019. The guest speakers include: Dr. George K. Chang, Transtec Group, USA (also President of International Intelligent Construction Technologies Group – IICTG), Prof. Soheil Nazarian, UTEP, USA (also Executive Committee Member of IICTG), and Emeritus Prof. Fumio Tastuoka, University of Tokyo and Tokyo University of Science.

40th Year Celebration of IC/CCC

We’ve just celebrated the 40th anniversary of the invention of Continuous Compaction Control (CCC) – later dubbed as Intelligent Compaction (IC) – in Vienna, Austria on Nov. 29, 2018. More than 160 IC-CCC experts (pretty much include all IC-CCC research, development, and implementation from all of the world) from more than 2 dozen countries have attended this historical event. This Symposium proceedings is published by the Technical University of Vienna (TU Wien).

Here is also a historical moment with the inventor of IC-CCC in the above photo (from the left to the right): Prof. Antonio Correia of Minho University, Portugal (leader in EU IC-CCC specification and implementation, Vice President of IICTG), A. Sandstrom of Geodynamic, Sweden (inventor of IC-CCC), Dr. George Chang of Transtec Group, USA (leader in US IC-CCC specification and global implementation, President of IICTG), and Prof. Soheil Nazarian of University of Texas – El Paso, USA (leader in US IC-CCC research, Executive Member of IICTG).

IC-CCC has come a long way for the past 40 years! It is anticipated to be elevated to the next levels with the integration with other Intelligent Construction Technologies (www.IICTG.org) in the decades to come!
