Veta 4.2.36 Released

This is the last scheduled release for Veta 4.2 It contains several important fixes, which requires the reprocessing of existing projects. Some changes have also been made to the MnDOT filter manager. All changes are listed in the Release Notes and provided below.

Existing projects will be reprocessed upon open. As always, we recommend using a copy of existing projects when reprocessing is required. For maximum accuracy, it’s also suggested to verify locations in Spot Tests and Location/Exclusion Filters.

Import

  • Fixed: The distance unit in the file import wizard was sometimes ignored if set to Meters or Feet (Survey Feet were fine).
  • Fixed: Distance conversion (feet to meters, for example), was sometimes incorrect by small amount. The amount varies per project, but so far, we’ve only seen it off by a few inches.
  • Fixed: The alignment contained in Sakai/Topcon files was not always imported correctly.
  • Fixed: Ames and MOBA files with duplicate data were not imported correctly.

Editor

  • Fixed: Sometimes zooming to the first or last point did not work.

Filters

  • Fixed: Cold-edge and Bracket filter did not work well if files with different numbers of sensors were in the same project.
  • Fixed: Some MnDOT-generated filter groups were not linked to the data filter.
  • Fixed: Renaming generated groups did not rename the associated operation filter and could cause a crash.
  • Fixed: Removing a generated group did not remove the associated operation filter.
  • Changed: MnDOT-generated filter groups now select the date using a time filter instead of the file name. This is because a file can contain multiple dates.
  • Changed: MnDOT filter generator now allows multiple materials.
  • Changed: Performance increase for filtering and analyzing data.
  • Changed: MnDOT-generated filter groups cannot have their filters removed and generated filters cannot be added to these groups.

Spot Tests

  • Fixed: Spot tests were sometimes not shown on the map.

Sublots

  • Fixed: For thermal profiling projects, canceling the addition of a new Sublots had no effect.

Analysis

  • New: Added Clipboard copy options for the coverage table.
  • Fixed: Sublot maps for thermal profiling did not hide the paver stop areas.
  • Fixed: Sometimes the sublots were not analyzed or the wrong sublots were analyzed. This issue only occurs 4.2.

Veta 4.2 Released

We are pleased to announce the release of Veta 4.2! New features focus on sublots and filtering. All changes are listed in the Release Notes and also provided below.

Download Veta 4.2

Filters

  • New: Operation filters that have not been viewed are marked with an asterisk (*).
  • Change: The “Cold Edge” filter has been renamed to “Cold Edge & Ride Bracket Filter”. In addition to removing cold edges, it will also remove longitudinal streaks of hot and cold data. This is usually caused by equipment blocking the sensor’s view of the pavement.

Many changes to filter groups. Because of the number of filter groups that are present in larger projects, folders can now be created to organize groups. Group and folder creation is now accomplished via the Filter Group Manager. The manager offers two naming templates. The first is actually empty and offers no restrictions on names, as before. The second template is specifically for MnDOT, although anyone can use it. The template will create groups that conform to MnDOT’s naming specification.

Sublots

  • Change: The selected filter group is linked to a specific sublot now through the use of checkboxes. Because this link is now defined in the sublots, the sublots input has been removed from the analysis setup.
  • New: Creating sublots for thermal profiling data will automatically generate the individual sublots based on the data. The start and stop points will also be set so as to exclude potentially unwanted data.

Analysis

  • Change: Different results were moved into the sublots results.
  • New: Added Variance to the Distribution statistics.

Veta 4.1.32 Released

The only change in this release is a fix for an issue where a failure in the sublots would cause the entire analysis to fail. The installation was also repackaged to eliminate false positives from malware detectors. Changes are listed in the Release Notes and also provided below.

Download Veta

Analysis

  • Fixed: A failure in the sublots analysis fails the entire analysis.

Installation

  • Change: The installation is now digitally signed and distributed as an MSI file instead of an EXE. This decreases the risk of antivirus software detecting a false-positive with the installation.
  • Change: Microsoft.NET is no longer installed if it is not present on the computer. The Veta installation will not progress until .NET is installed.

Veta 4.1 Released

We are pleased to announce the release of Veta 4.1! New features were focused on the sublots and filtering. As usual, several fixes and quality of life improvements were included.

Release Highlights

  • The road map was replaced and an aerial map is now provided.
  • Location filters based on alignments have been updated to improve accuracy. Check your filters to ensure they are still correct.
  • Because operation filters are frequently used for daily checks, Design Name and Imported File Name filters no longer have any items selected.
  • The paving width filter for thermal profiling data has been replaced by a “cold-edge” filter.
  • The sublots creation algorithm has been improved. You will need to press the Create Sublots button to update the sublots and take advantage of new features.
  • The last sublot is now merged into the previous sublot if the length is less than half of the specified length.
  • Warnings are no longer given when only part of the analysis fails.

All changes are listed in the Release Notes and also provided below.

Download Veta 4.1.22

File Import

  • Change: A default project name is no longer provided.
  • Change: Ames projects will now import the Machine ID.
  • Change: HAMM files that do not use GPS can now have their coordinate system set during import.
  • Fix: Trimble files that includes rows with valid CMV but are missing frequency and/or amplitude can now be imported.
  • Fix: Trimble files that have quotes around the Machine ID will now have the quotes removed.

Maps

  • New: Added the Bing aerial map as an option. Please note that aerial maps have usage limits. If usage is higher than expected we may temporarily disable the aerial maps.
  • Change: The OpenStreetMap road map has been replaced by the Bing road map.

Editor

  • New: Added ability to sort the table.
  • Fix: Crash when attempting to remove a file before the map had finished drawing. It is possible this could still cause a crash, so we recommend waiting for the map to finish before removing a file.

Alignments

  • Change: Alignments are now upsampled if necessary to provide more detail for location filters (see below). No differences should be visible. This upsampling will done be when an alignment is added and for previous projects.

Filters

  • Change: Because operation filters are frequently used for daily checks, Design Name and Imported File Name filters no longer have all items selected.
  • Change: The paving width filter for thermal profiling data has been replaced by a “cold-edge” filter. Instead of specifying a paving width, this filter will automatically remove cold edges on the pavement to filter the data to the proper width.
  • Change: Checkbox items are now sorted alphabetically.
  • Fix: Location filters that use part of an alignment could be slightly off if the alignment file had long lines. For existing projects, this correction will be done upon opening the project.
  • Fix: Changing time filters was sometimes difficult.

Sublots

  • Change: If the length of the last sublot is less than half the sublot longitudinal length, it will be merged into the previous sublot.
  • Change: Sublot creation accuracy and speed has been improved. You will need to press the Create Sublots button to obtain the new sublots. Some analysis results may also not appear if you do not recreate the sublots. Current testing has shown the Transverse Width input is not needed, so it has been removed for now. Even more so than before, proper filtering is required to obtain accurate sublots.

Spot Tests

  • Fix: Pasting spot tests did not work if there were spaces after the column names or if the column names did not match the letter casing of Veta.

Analysis

  • New: The length of a sublot has been added to each sublot table.
  • New: For thermal profile projects, the length of the filtered profile is now listed in the coverage table for each operation filter.
  • Change: Sublots Details screen has been moved into the Sublots Results screen.
  • Change: Differential results have been moved from the Overall Results into the Sublot Results.
  • Change: Warnings are no longer given when part of the analysis fails. Due to the nature of the data that is being analyzed and the many dozens of sub-analyses that are run, the warning message was showing so frequently as to not be useful. A message will now only be shown if there was no data found to analyze or every sub-analysis fails.
  • Fix: Statistics/Histogram analyses with no data have been removed.

Miscellaneous

  • Improved performance.
  • Various cosmetic changes to reports, tables, and charts.
