The International Society for Intelligent Construction 2024 Conference (ISIC 2024) will be held in Orlando, Florida, USA, from 10 to 12 September 2024. Intelligent construction technologies (ICT) are combinations of modern science and innovative construction technologies. The International Society for Intelligent Construction (ISIC) provides a forum for disseminating knowledge concerning the collection, analysis, and application of ICT for infrastructure. ISIC’s mission is to promote ICT applications to the life cycle of infrastructure (survey, design, construction, operation, and maintenance/rehabilitation) while adapting to environmental conditions and minimizing risk. ISIC aims to improve construction quality, reduce costs, and promote safety.
The ISIC 2024 conference theme is Sustainability through Technologies. The conference topics cover the scope of intelligent construction technologies for infrastructure to improve sustainability and safety:
Material Delivery Management System (MDMS) (expanded e-Ticketing, Digital As-Built)
Quality Control & Monitoring (IC, PMTP, DPS, etc.)
Data Management & Security (Veta standard platform, Cloud computing, data sharing, etc.)
Digital Twins & BIM
Life-Cycle Assessment & Risk Management (Remote Sensing and Hazard Monitoring)
Artificial Intelligence/Deep-Learning
Education & Training

The National Road Research Alliance provides a monthly seminar to highlight the research and related topics that will make an impact on the work done here in the state of Minnesota and around the country. The next Research Pays Off webinar will be at 10AM US CDT, April 18, 2023, on “Evaluation of Levels 3-4 Intelligent Compaction Measurement Values (ICMV) for Soils Subgrade and Aggregate Subbase Compaction” presented by Cesar Tirado of UTEP and George K. Chang of Transtec Group. We would acknowledge the Co-PI, Prof. Soheil Nazarian of UTEP, who had presented the project scope before.
ISIC Webinar No. 005 – How Veta Leverages Values of Intelligent Construction Technologies

The International Society for Intelligent Construction (ISIC) will conduct the next webinar from 9AM to 11AM US CDT (2PM WET, 10PM Beijing Time), March 30, 2023. The topic is “How Veta Leverages Values of Intelligent Construction Technologies”. Veta is a public domain software to view and analyze geospatial data from various intelligent construction technologies (ICT). ICTs are innovative technologies that include the characteristics of perception, analysis, decision-making, or execution that improve efficiencies, qualities, and infrastructure construction. Veta development has been sponsored by the US FHWA and transportation pooled fund studies (TPF) since 2013. Veta currently supports Intelligent Compaction (IC), Paver-mounted thermal profiler (PMTP), dielectric profile systems (DPS), etc. Veta will also support E-Ticketing, Material Delivery Management Systems (MDMS), Ground penetration RADAR (GPR), and other ICTs in the next few years. This webinar will provide a brief history and background of Veta. Speakers from the Department of Transportation (DOT) and contractors will also share their perspectives and demonstrate field case studies on how Veta helps them to leverage the values of IC, PMTP, and DPS to diagnose asphalt paving issues and make timely corrective actions to improve the pavement qualities. Our first book of the International Society for Intelligent Construction (ISIC) Frontier of Intelligent Construction book series, entitled “Introduction to Intelligent Construction of Transportation Infrastructure,” is published by Springer (https://link.springer.com/book/10.1007/978-3-031-13433-3). The book series includes seven books (https://www.is-ic.org/library/isic-journal-and-publication/). The goal of this book series is to be practical training materials for the current and future intelligent construction workforces. We will also develop ISIC training workshops and certification materials derived from those books and real-world case studies.
