A Missouri Department of Transportation (MODOT) report documents a field demonstration of intelligent compaction and infrared scanning (IC & IR) technology resulting from the TRB-administered Strategic Highway Research Program 2 (SHRP2), funded by the FHWA Accelerated Innovation Deployment (AID) program and MODOT. This IC & IR project includes all aspects of implementation and technical support from the Transtec Group team, led by Dr. George K. Chang (president of IICTG). Check out this AID IC & IR report for further details. The full MODOT IC & IR report is also available.

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MODOT) has released a report that summarizes the results of two combined Intelligent Compaction-Infrared Scanning (IC-IR) (also known as Paver-Mounted Thermal Profiling PMTP) projects. This report includes field test results, lessons learned, and recommendations for future IC-IR projects in Missouri. The Transtec Group team, led by Dr. George K. Chang, has provided consultant support for this FHWA AID/MODOT funded projects – including IC-IR project management protocol, training workshops, onsite field support, data analysis and reports. It is demonstrated as an excellent model for State DOT to implement IC and IR/PMTP effectively! The full report can be downloaded from it here!
The 2018 Rocky Mountain Asphalt Conference will feature a session on “Future of Construction” on February 22, in Denver, CO. It will include: Intelligent Compaction by Dr. George K. Chang, Transtec Group (President of IICTG, www.IICTG.org); Paver-Mounted Thermal Profiling by Paul Angerhofer of MOBA (Technical Committee member of IICTG), and GPR-based Asphalt Density Measurement by Kyle Hoegh of MnDOT.
