The FHWA has published the final report of the Intelligent Compaction and Asphalt In-Place Density project. This project conducted intensive field studies between 2012 and 2014 to evaluate the relationship between asphalt in-place density and IC measurements. Download the Final Report.
FHWA is offering free web-based training on intelligent compaction in an interactive format and animation to allow learners to see the tools and technologies involved in deploying the innovations.
An ICDM Workshop and an IC Equipment Demo will be conducted in Albuquerque, NM on Jan 21 and Jan 22, 2015, respectively. Check them out!
FHWA has published an Application Notes on the asphalt IC project at the Sitka Airport, AK. Two Hamm IC rollers were used successfully for this project by the Knik Construction company. This applications notes were co-authored by Amanda Gilliland of Knik and the Transtec Group staff. Check out this Application Notes for further details!
NOVA Awards honor innovations that have proven to improve construction quality and cost. According to CIF, IC “improves compaction quality, consistency, and uniformity in a way that no other technology can.”
Three IC leaders accepted the IC NOVA Award on behalf of the industry. FHWA’s Antonio Nieves Torres and Michael Arasteh, and George K. Chang, PhD, PE, of The Transtec Group, received the award during the Construction Users Roundtable (CURT) Awards of Excellence Gala in Houston, Texas.
The CIF is an international, non-profit organization that recognizes and encourages innovations that improve construction. To learn more about IC’s contributions to construction and its rapidly increasing rate of adoption throughout the industry, watch CIF’s informative IC video.
IC is one of four construction innovations selected for a 2014 NOVA Award. The following IC Champs were also honored during the award ceremony. Visit www.CIF.org for more information about 2014’s winners.
